CEO Ken Takagi established Maji Curry in April 2018 in Kanda-Ogawamachi, in the Chiyoda ward of Tokyo. A bold move, considering the Kanda area houses more than 400 curry restaurants.
Curry is such a big deal in Kanda that we have an annual festival – called the Kanda Curry Grand Prix – showcasing the best the area has to offer. It is the ultimate contest for curry professionals.
The festival culminated in a vote to decide which restaurant’s curry is the best – and Maji Curry clinched the top prize in 2018 AND 2022 among a crowd of 40,000 attendees, just seven months after we first opened.
Maji Curry now has three outlets in Japan, one in Thailand (here at Siam Center); opening soon in Singapore and Los Angeles too.
